Red Bellied Woodpecker – Mississippi

Red Bellied Woodpecker – Mississippi

I know he has a red head, right? He is not your regular “Red headed woodpecker” but a smaller species and has feathers with a reddish hue on his belly thus called the “Red Bellied Woodpecker” I’ll admit I was looking for a chance to photo the Pileated,  woody wood pecker but have found them to be very difficult to photo. I discovered the red belly is somewhat less nervous.  I love a challenge and hope you like this capture.  Also, the red goes along with Valentine’s Day for February.  Please let me know with any questions or comments you have on this photo.
