Nome Bound – Alaska

“Nome Bound” As in the Iditarod race in Alaska.  It typically runs from Willow to Nome, Alaska. About a 1050 mile long race. The mushers and sled dogs all have a close relationship, the dogs know their names and are the true athletes here. Some believe it’s wrong because they think the animals are made to run. But, it’s exactly the opposite,  they have to be held back. The competition is fierce!!! I’ve had the pleasure of attending parts of the race for more than 10 years.  I fell in love with the sport, the mushers and the spirit of the enthusiastic sled dogs.  The race begins the 1st weekend in March.  This month, “Nome Bound” is also my 2018 Calendar photo. I’ve truly enjoyed having the opportunity to capture photos of the Iditarod,  sometimes called “The Last Great Race” I value your opinions and any comments you would like to share and hope you enjoy this months feature photo.
