Mississippi Blueberries

Mississippi Blueberries

This months June 2018 Feature Photo – Initially several years ago I had plans to put in a full blown Blueberry Orchard and started with 80 test plants to see how well they would grow on our land. Now I have about 40 plants on our property and could still put in the orchard but with the state government contracting the blueberry industry, it’s driven down the market
price and I’m not near as interested anymore.

The remaining bushes are now 11 years old, and are seven feet tall and produce very large, sweet and tasty berries each season in late May and June.
We typically harvest around 60 to 80 gallons from our bushes. They kinda speak for themselves. They’re great with hazelnut cream on them, in oatmeal,
in pancakes, pies or blueberry cobbler. Also, are a healthy heart food too.
This macro photo is a great example of our blueberries. The species name is “Rabbit Eye Premiere”.

I hope you like this months feature photo. I value and respect your opinion and would love to hear any comments you have about this photo.
